Veteran Status Verification Form and Fees Required
Sacramento – Veterans can begin applying to receive the word VETERAN on their driver license or identification (ID) card starting today, November 12, 2015. The California Department of Motor Vehicles (DMV) wants to remind veterans that they must first obtain a Veteran Status Verification Form from a County Veteran Service Office (CVSO), BEFORE visiting a DMV office to apply for the designation.Continue reading→

For 28 years now Veterans Villages of San Diego produces an event called Stand Down each summer in July that helps struggling U.S. Military Veterans get a “Hand Up & Not A Hand Out”.
I know it all too well as in 2013 I attended my first Stand Down after hitting complete bottom in life after struggling for a few years after the real estate bubble burst and the U.S. economy tanked. I had the intention that it was going to be a weekend camping trip and then I was “checking out”, but Stand Down saved my life.
The railroads’ long history of hiring veterans dates back to the Civil War, and that connection continues today because together we are a good fit.
