Crete Carrier & Shaffer Trucking Approved for on the job Training Program

Crete Carrier Corporation, a premier provider of truckload and logistics services and its refrigerated division, Shaffer Trucking, officially announce their approval from the Department of Veterans Affairs to provide on the job training to veterans and other eligible persons. This is a twelve-month program that provides approved veterans and other eligible persons access to GI Bill benefits.

According to the Driver Development Manager, Issac Phillips, with this program in place, service members transitioning from the military will not only receive on the truck training with Crete Carrier and Shaffer Trucking, they may be eligible to receive additional compensation from their GI Bill. “This program, along with the Patriot Fleet, are two ways Crete and Shaffer are giving back and supporting the men and women that served this country,” stated Issac.

“As a company, we are very excited to announce the approval of this program. We are all very proud of our men and women who have served,”says Tim Aschoff, COO of Crete Carrier, “and this program is just one way we can help honor our country’s veterans by providing them opportunities to transition back to civilian life.”

Earlier this year, Crete Carrier announced the addition of five new trucks into its Patriot Fleet, for a total of 10 honorary trucks. The Patriot Fleet trucks are black International ProStar tractors with wrap graphics that include decals to salute the United States Armed Forces and customized dog tags listing the drivers’ military branches, years served, and miles with Crete.

Crete and Shaffer have received numerous awards as a national leader in supporting current and former members of the military. This year alone, Crete Carrier Corporation received the American Legion Employer of Veterans Award for the Large Business category and was recognized as a finalist for CivilianJobs.com’s Most Valuable Employers for Military list. Additionally, the Nebraska Employer Support of the Guard and Reserve (ESGR) awarded Crete the Pro Patria Award, while the ESGR also named Crete a semifinalist for the Secretary of Defense Employer Support Freedom Award.
